The types of community groups the BGK LLEN works with is a very broad mix. However, some of these groups working within the areas of welfare, housing and homelessness, drug and alcohol counselling, relationships, juvenile justice, health, mentoring, youth and environmental leadership and recreation. Why we partner with community groupsWe work with many community groups because, like us, they too are committed to ensuring that all young people reach their potential, no matter what their cirumstances might be. We also work with community organisations because they have the right skills and knowledge to provide expert assistance to young people. The partnerships we form with these groups aim to harness resources and build social capital so that a holistic approach to supporting young people can be achieved. Community group partnerships and projectsWe work with community groups in a variety of ways including the coordination of networks, developing partnerships, providing research opportunities or undertaking research to assist them, and initiating locally needed community projects. For details about our current community group partnerships and projects visit the Community Group Partnerships page. Key prioritiesOur research has identified the following as key priorities that we will partner with community groups to address in the immediate term:
Community group eventsOur Events Calender lists a wide range of both BGK LLEN and partner events of relevance to anyone connected to, or interested in community development and related youth support. Community group researchOur Research Library houses a range of resources of relevance to anyone connected to, or interested in, community development and youth topics. The BGK LLEN is also interested in partnering with community groups to undertake research that fits within our strategic objectives and will benefit the region. Please contact the BGK LLEN if you would like to discuss research opportunities.
