The key role of the BGK LLEN is to create, build and broker effective local partnerships that increase our young people's potential to make a successful passage through school and into ongoing education, training or employment. There are many opportunities for the community group sector to get involved in current partnerships and projects.  

The BGK LLEN team encourages anyone from the community group sector to contact us and discuss ways you can connect with our current work or identify new projects and partnerships you believe would be beneficial to the region.

The BGK LLEN facilitates, co-facilitates or is strongly connected to a range of community group partnerships and projects that aim to increase the potential of local young people (10 – 19 years) to make a successful passage through school and into ongoing education, training or employment.  A list of key regional partnerships is provided below along with links to more detailed information about each:

 

Bayside Youth Charter 

bayside youth charter logoThe Bayside Youth Charter seeks to use a set of collective values to enhance the way local organisations work with young people. Disability Pathways Network (Inner Melbourne)

The BGK LLEN, along with Inner Eastern LLEN and the Department of Human Services, is leading the Youth Disability Pathways Network. This Network brings together key education, transition, employment and wellbeing agencies supporting young people with disabilities in oder to increase their access to sustainable learning and career pathways.  For more information about the Youth Disability Pathways Network, its related sub-groups and projects click here

 

Flexible Engagement and Learning Steering Group

word wallThe Flexible Engagement and Learning Steering Group for the BGK region is a strategic group with a core purpose to look at how we, as a region, best coordinate, support and develop our flexible engagement and learning programs for young people outside of mainstream school. Health and Community Service Careers Network

word wallThe Health and Community Service Careers Network brings together representatives of Southern Melbourne LLENs and senior representatives from the Department of Health and Department of Human Services to explore education, training and youth labour market issues within this key industry area. Mentoring (Youth) Partnerships

word wallYouth mentoring provides a structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement. Youth mentoring can empower young people to reach their potential, fosters supportive relationships, assists in building community partnerships and provides young people with role models.  For more information about a number of local youth mentoring programs click here

 

RESPECT Partnership

respect logoRESPECT has been developed to strategically build a network of schools and organisations across the region that will help improve the health, wellbeing and education success of young people who are gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender, intersex, and intersex questioning (GLBTIQ) young people in the BGK LLEN region. School Focused Youth Service (SFYS) Networks

SFYS is a Victorian initiative supporting prevention and early intervention strategies for vulnerable young people between 10 to 18 years, and covers young people in all government and non-government schools. Within the BGK LLEN region, two SFYS Networks operate which together cover the entire BGK LLEN region. Southern Youth Commitment

southern youth commitment logoThe Southern Youth Commitment is a holistic framework that enhances the operation of all stakeholders in supporting all young people, within the Southern region of Melbourne, to achieve Year 12 or its equivalent. Education is the key to creating a dynamic, successful community and improving all Victorian's life opportunities. Building on a coordinated and collaborative approach to supporting positive change and providing pathway choices for young people, the Southern Youth Commitment aims to allow all key stakeholders to work closely together to provide access for all young people. Southern Metropolitan Regional Youth Affairs Network (RYAN)

ryan report 2010 coverThe Southern Metropolitan Regional Youth Affairs Network (RYAN) brings together youth service providers, all levels of government, community representatives and young people with an interest in improving outcomes for youth across the southern region of Melbourne. The Southern Metropolitan RYAN covers the City of Casey; Cardinia Shire; City of Greater Dandenong; City of Bayside; City of Kingston; Glen Eira Council; City of Port Phillip; City of Frankston; City of Stonnington and Mornington Peninsula Shire.  For more information about the Southern Metropolitan RYAN and its projects click here

 

Tomorrow's Leaders for Sustainability (TLfS)

tlfs logoTomorrow's Leaders for Sustainability (TLfS) is an initiative that helps young people understand the key issues of environmental and social sustainability while also gaining skills to become young leaders. TLfS's training in sustainability leadership is based on a holistic and interactive approach to learning that respects the student's prior experience, knowledge and skills. The BGK LLEN supports this program by coordinating regional networks and supporting school and community partnerships. For more information about TLfS, its related networks and projects click here  

Transitions Network

who what where cover 20102011The Transitions Network is led by the BGK LLEN and includes partners from schools, youth and welfare organisations. This Network meets regularly to explore the issues relating to youth transitions and identify ways in which community stakeholders can collaboratively work together to create or sustain programs aimed at enhancing young peoples' passage through their upper primary and secondary years of schooling. In addition to exploring youth transition issues, enhancing parents' knowledge of the critical transition points in a young person's life is also part of this network's brief.  For more information about the Transitions Network, its reated sub-groups and its projects click here

 

Working with Parents Network

word wallThe Working with Parents Network was initiated by the BGK LLEN in 2010. This Network is a partnership of organisations that promote strategies, activities and projects that meet the needs of local parents and carers. Network activites and goals include: developing an understanding of current programs targeting parents/carers; promoting information, strategies and projects to parents and carers; coordinating the information that is disseminated to parents and carers across the region; identifying service and information gaps; and researching the needs of parents and carers.  For more information about the Working with Parents Network, related partnership groups and projects click here

Youth Alliance Network

word wallThe Youth Alliance Network was initiated by the BGK LLEN in 2011. The network's focus is to identify and address issues relating to young people and their families on a broad, strategic level. The network is made up of local government Youth Services Coordinators, School Focused Youth Services Coordinators and key welfare, wellbeing and community based organisations across the region.  For more information about the Youth Alliance Network and its projects click here


Youth Leadership Network

word wallThe Youth Leadership Network is a BGK LLEN initiated partnership that engages local young people in learning, leadership and community development. This network is designed to assist in the sustainable development of cross sector partnerships between young people (primary, secondary, special needs, community VCAL), schools and the community. Youth Network (BGK LGA Regions)

word wallThe BGK Youth Network is a network open to local service providers who work with young people and their families across the Bayside, Glen Eira and Kingston municipalities. It meets bi-monthly and provides an opportunity for service providers to share information and network with other service providers. The network also provides professional development and the opportunity to support and develop programs collectively amongst agencies.  For more information about the BGK Youth Network click here
